Rules change log
Each time a rule we apply changes, or we check it again against its source, it is listed here with the date and the change in our code that made it. Edits to wording alone are left out. The rules themselves are in the UK claims rules dataset.

5 October 2026 · TfL refund rules
Each TfL rule now says how it was checked. Twelve were read on Transport for London’s own pages on 5 October 2026, and the Hopper fare rule now links to TfL’s bus and tram fares page. The other five are stated on Untap’s guides or describe how Untap applies a rule, and are marked that way. No rule changed.

4 October 2026 · Airline claim routes and dispute schemes, Dispute schemes and time limits
Added the claim page, contact page, who may claim and response time for 34 airlines, each read on the airline’s own page or an archived copy of it. A claim page seen only in search results is marked unverified. Added the escalation routes with their time limits: the Rail Ombudsman, AviationADR, CEDR, the Civil Aviation Authority’s complaints team, London TravelWatch and the court time limits for UK261 and EU261.

30 September 2026 · Airline claim routes and dispute schemes
Every airline’s dispute scheme was rechecked against the Civil Aviation Authority’s list and both schemes’ own member lists, and corrected where it differed, including easyJet, Ryanair and TUI. An airline in no scheme now sends a refused UK261 claim to the Civil Aviation Authority’s complaints team.

30 September 2026 · UK261 and EU261 compensation bands
Under EU261, a flight between two EU airports of more than 1,500 km is now paid at the middle band, €400, even when it is longer than 3,500 km, as Article 7(1)(b) says. Such a flight used to show €600, or €300 for a delay of 3 to 4 hours. UK261 dropped this rule, so UK flights, including UK to EU, are unchanged. A cancelled flight whose replacement arrived less than 2, 3 or 4 hours late, depending on distance, now shows the half rate the airline is allowed to pay.

30 September 2026 · Delay Repay by train operator
Added the 120-minute tier. On a return ticket, one direction delayed 120 minutes or more now pays the whole return fare on the 21 operators whose rules say so; Lumo and Hull Trains stop at half the return. Payout rules were rechecked against each operator’s own pages, or an archived copy where the live page was blocked. West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern could not be read, so the national scheme is used. Five claim form links were updated.

30 September 2026 · TfL refund rules
The Hopper fare window is now measured from the tap that opens it, not from the most recent tap. A paid third bus more than an hour after the first is no longer flagged as a missed Hopper fare.

31 July 2026 · Delay Repay by train operator
Rechecked the automatic compensation status of seven operators against their own pages. East Midlands Railway now shows no automatic scheme; Transport for Wales, West Midlands Railway, London Northwestern, Lumo and Caledonian Sleeper show one-click schemes; Chiltern stays unconfirmed.

31 July 2026 · Delay Repay by train operator
Added whether each operator pays automatically, asks you to confirm a pre-filled claim, or needs a manual claim, and which tickets each scheme covers.
Change 1d2ac63
24 May 2026 · UK261 and EU261 compensation bands
Cancellations now take account of how much notice the airline gave. With 15 or more calendar days’ notice nothing is owed. With 7 to 14 days, nothing is owed if the airline offered a replacement that left no more than 2 hours early and arrived less than 4 hours late. With under 7 days, the limits are 1 hour early and 2 hours late.

14 May 2026 · TfL refund rules
An incomplete journey that a daily or weekly cap has already absorbed is no longer counted as money owed, and refunds TfL has already credited are shown separately.
Change 41da53e
26 April 2026 · Delay Repay by train operator
Delay Repay is now worked out for each journey separately against the single fare, which is half the price of a return. The earlier rule that paid the whole ticket price for delays of 120 minutes or more was removed, so every tier now pays up to 100% of the single fare.
