What Hull Trains pays
Every tier is a percentage of the single fare for the delayed direction. If you bought a return, the single fare is half what you paid, which is how every UK operator calculates it. Unlike most operators, Hull Trains has no band for two hours or more. On a return, the most it pays is half, however late you arrive.

- 60 minutes or more late100%
Worth repeating: Hull Trains starts at 30 minutes, not 15. A 25-minute delay pays nothing here even though it would pay on most of the network.

Common questions
- My Hull Trains train was 20 minutes late. Can I claim?
- No. Hull Trains only pays Delay Repay when you arrive 30 minutes or more late. Its table says no compensation is due for a delay under 30 minutes.
- My Hull Trains return journey was delayed by two hours. Do I get the whole fare back?
- Not from Hull Trains' published table. For a delay of 60 minutes or more it pays 100% of a single ticket or 50% of a return ticket, and there is no higher rate for longer delays. A delay is measured by how late you arrived at your destination.
- Can I claim Hull Trains Delay Repay if I bought my ticket on Trainline?
- Yes. Hull Trains says you can claim even if you bought through a third-party retailer such as Trainline. The claim goes to the operator whose train was delayed, not to the retailer, and must be made within 28 days of travel.
- How much does Hull Trains pay?
- A percentage of your single fare: 50% from 30 minutes, 100% from 60 minutes. On a return, the single fare is treated as half what you paid. Hull Trains has no higher band for long delays, so the most a return gets is half, even at two hours or more.
- How long do I have to claim from Hull Trains?
- 28 days from the date you travelled. After that they are within their rights to refuse, though it is still worth asking if you have a good reason.
The hard part is remembering
Only 45% of passengers with an eligible delay ever claim, and the most common reason is not that people think it is complicated. It is that 28 days pass. Untap watches your journeys and tells you while there is still time. Free, and we never take a share of what you get back.
